Prayer
An Autumn Prayer of Hope
Gracious God, as the days grow shorter and the leaves begin to fall, teach us to welcome this season with hope rather than dread. We thank you for the warmth and light of summer, and for the blessings that autumn brings in its own quiet way: the beauty of changing colours, the fruit of patient growth, and the invitation to pause and give thanks. When darkness comes earlier, remind us that your light has not gone away. When familiar things change, give us courage to trust that you are present in every season of our lives.
Bless those who find this time of year difficult, especially the lonely, the ill, and those who fear the cold or the costs it brings. Make us attentive neighbours and generous friends. As we look towards Advent and the joy of Christmas, help us to wait with open hearts for Christ, our enduring hope. May we receive each day as a gift and discover your grace in the turning of the year. Amen.
